Chelmsford Chess Club is an established and sucessful chess club with over 30 full-time members, whose standards range from beginner through to county level. Affiliated to the British Chess Federation, the club competes in the North Essex Chess League (NECL) where, this year, it's highly successful 'A' team were crowned League Champions for the 3rd successive season. In all, the club fields 4 teams in the league, providing all members with the opportunity to experience competitive chess. The club started about 30 years ago and has always been based at Dovedale Sports Centre, Vicarage Road, Chelmsford. Julie Belemore, the current Head Coach, took over the club in 1992. When Julie took over the club had 20 girls, training on two badminton courts on a Saturday. We now have over 300 gymnasts training throughout the week at our purpose built centre which opened in April 2012.
We currently have 3 Essex champions: 2 silver medalists and a regional finalist and the British 2011 Veterans Champion

We offer parent and toddler classes that are open for anybody to come with their children and structured Pre-school classes for children from the age of 2 years.
We offer one hour Gymschool classes for children who are at full time school and are beginners. We also offer a slightly more advanced class that lasts for two hours.
We have squad groups in all three of our disciplines; Men’s and Women’s Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics. They train from one day a week to six days a week depending on their level of ability.
